For all practical purposes, Ashtown Films consists of two people. Myself (owner/founder) and Brandon Gentry (web operations/future design and publication). The team is going to start expanding to give birth to a new chapter of Ashtown… Ashville (I know, right?). Basically, we are going to try to take Indy’s film entertainment news sections by storm. I have made offers to several people in the area, and plan to make a few more. As reviewers, critical analysts, and just fun guys to read from, we will operate under the name Ashville. (If you wish to apply to the team, send an email to wgobleprod@gmail.com subject “Ashville”, thank you for your interest.)
In other news, my thoughts go out to those who were or know someone involved in the incident at a near by high school. I actually posted a much more detailed entry a week or so ago and I was kindly, yet forcefully asked to remove it by local authorities. I’m not sure why, but they aren’t letting press or anyone have much information or let them share much information about what exactly happened. In fact, in the phone call, email, and fed ex sent letter, it all referred to the incident as “EVE-243 Dist 9/IND-111″ which after some research, means “Event #243, District 9, Indiana Case #111″. I can’t elaborate anymore, I hate to say. Obviously there are issues at hand that we don’t have enough information to discuss, and what we do know, we can’t discuss. I promise to dig up more, because I feel that its my job. I know there is a girl from the other side of town who was there when it happened. She has a blog and she talks about it alot. I don’t know the name of her blog, but I will definitely have it soon for you. I’ve seen it twice and all of her posts keep getting removed after a few minutes… these people are serious… and quick! I promise more info as long as I don’t get freaking hauled in on some ridiculous charge, lol.
Nicky Midtown will soon go into hyperspeed mode to get another script draft completed. I hated the first one… I promise to the three or four of you who care… that you will have to buy a sock detector… because the next draft is gonna knock them right off.
Whether you are a member of this site, or just looking at it for the first time, please join an return. Don’t stop there, get the word out to your friends and family who are interested in movie news and discussion on local events. This IS a business preparing to stand up on its feet. We WILL be needing leads to jobs and there is only one place to find it. YOU - the readers.
If you haven’t already, check out Bustedtees.com. It has the best collection of clever t-shirts I’ve ever seen. The reason I say this now, is because Peter Sciretta over at /Film put up a few “I drink your Milkshake” shirts from various websites. The best one I saw was of course from BustedTees.com.
So thats my word for now… Go get a shirt from BustedTees.com.
Development is slowing a little bit.
I’m completely aware no one is reading this yet. So why am I writing these as if someone somewhere is? Well, to be perfectly honest, no one will want to return if they visit and it is not written that way. I want there to be plenty to read and discuss once people do arrive.
We lost a friend and peer today. Kale Nicholson passed away today and he is greatly missed. Whether you are a close friend or a mere aquaintance like I, it has affected everyone. Our prayers are with his family that they can mourn and can keep moving forward with strength as I’m sure Kale would desire them to. From everyone who knew you or just of you, we miss you man, and hope to see you again someday.
Ok, well I wanted to try to get the first discussion running to give our Brandon some incentive to do some site shtuff.
I was skimming through the latest articles on /Film (www.slashfilm.com) and wanted to use it to get some activity on this site.
According to SlashFilm.com:
Joanne Siegel has won the rights back to Superman. She has officially canned Bryan Singer’s “The Man of Steel” which was the follow up to “Superman Returns”. Instead she has apparently dubbed herself producer of a “Superman vs. Marvel Comic Heroes” series starting with Spiderman. The film will be co-directed by Bryan Singer (Superman Returns) and Sam Raimi (Spider-man Trilogy, Evil Dead Series). Tobey McGuire, as of now, will not be reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-man. Instead the role will be taken by Jake Gyllenhaal.
If that wasn’t enough to make you say, “whaaaa!?”, then how about this… Brandon Roush will NOT be reprising his role as Clark Kent/Superman because Mrs. Siegel will not allow it. According to her, no one since the late Christopher Reeve has successfully portrayed the hero. So, her solution is to shoot the film without an actor to portray Superman or Clark Kent, then later shoot the same scenes with IMOCAP (image motion capture) and recreate Christopher Reeve as the character. His face, stature, voice, and acting style. IMO, this is a HUGE waste of money and not fair to the idea of making a NEW franchise. It doesn’t give any talented actors (even Brandon Roush) a chance… no matter how cool the idea may be…
JoBlo broke this news early April 1, 2008
The movie is hoped to be released April 1, 2012.
come on…
DISCUSS!
Ok guys, I’m Wes Goble obviously. The site is just in its opening stages and will get better and easier. Brandon Gentry is in charge of my site. If anyone wishes to sign up, go ahead.
We are going to be covering a wide range of things with this site. Rather than making numerous sites (our previous plan) we are just going to make this one do it all.
As a business, we will be doing Video Production, Filmmaking, Equipment Rental, Video Marketing, Viral Marketing Campaigns, Cinematic Event Videography, and more.
Also, for those who aren’t looking for the business, we are also going to use this site as somewhat of a news site. I will hopefully get the “O.K.” to refer articles from “Slashfilm.com” to here to be discussed and comment on them. My intent of this site is to get individuals from our area exited about film and get SlashFilm’s name out there to those who may not be familiar with it.
We are going to be setting up an Ashtown/Amazon affiliation so that you can order products featured in Ashtown posts from Amazon (with no additional cost to you) and Ashtown will financially benefit.
Anyone wishing to become more involved with Ashtown, submit a submit to the administrator email in .doc form with a cover letter explaining your reason for application, your desired position, what you think you could add to the team, any and all experience with our field and working in a professional environment, and how you heard about Ashtown.
Alright, thanks guys
Coming soon will be a new images, a revised format, team details, video resume, podcasts, video posting, and FILM NEWS! Make sure you come back!
